Trusting the Goodness of God- Psalms 34:8

Image
There is a lot going on in today's world that can distract you from God's goodness. People can be so consumed by one bad thing going on, that they forget the hundreds of other things in their lives that are going right. God is faithful, and good to those who put their trust in Him. Just because we are Christians, doesn't mean hard times won't come. But what sets us apart from those who don't believe, is that we know there is a help to our troubles. A comforter in times of distress, peace in times of chaos. And an advocate who prays for us always.  I have tasted God's goodness and His love, and God is a good Father. A Father who knows us personally, who sent a Son for us to teach and pray for us, and a Spirit who lives and dwells in His people. In times of adversity, it is important that you have a strong foundation of faith. And in the teachings of C.S. Lewis (which is of course, biblically based), that I have recently read, true faith is steadfast belief in s...

A New Journey

Image
The journey and walk with God that you go through is never ending. And always growing. Because you are human, you may backslide, go back to old cycles, and sin again. But the amazing thing is, God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son for the forgiving of our sins, and for our healing. And He knew that, although we may or may not be saved, we would mess up again. The important thing is, to repent and ask for forgiveness. And more importantly, turn back to Him.  A prominent figure that we can look at is King David. King David was a man favored by God, after God's own heart. A man who wrote the Psalms, and had it on his heart to build the temple of God, but he was also a sinner. He did many things wrong, but because he repented, and turned back to God, God forgave Him. God kept David, and was his refuge in the times of trouble. So on today, I encourage you, whatever is weighing on your heart, and that doesn't seem to be getting better, repent and give it to God. An...

Godly Community

Image
Surrounding yourself in a church home, and with other like-minded brothers and sisters in Christ can do so much to up level your faith. As much as I love the Lord and love communing with Him in the privacy of my own studio dorm, God did not create us to be alone. Being around others who share your faith takes you to newer and greater heights within God. Where there or two or three gathered in His name, there is a moving of His spirit, and His love and a teaching of His word that you can't get alone. Fellowship with others, find a Bible-teaching and believing church, and grow a godly community. It takes time and discernment, but it will happen, and I can attest to that.

He Will Make our Crooked Path Straight

Image
When you seek the Lord, He will always have an on time word. This Sunday, I went to church, not even knowing what God had in store for me. I am thankful that His presence flowed through the body of Christ, and that I was in attendance to get what I need. The theme of the Sunday was submitting all of ourselves to God, so that He would guide us. To repent, and He would heal us. God is not a genie, we shouldn't be going to Him only when we mess up and put ourselves into bad situations. All of our steps should be ordered by the Lord, His path is a righteous one, and everything that we go through is for our good. There is comfort, peace beyond understanding, and joy in the Lord. As long as we trust Him and have faith in His plans for us. And ultimately obey Him.  One of the things that I have come to learn is that love leads to obedience. Love the Lord with all your heart, all your mind, and all your soul. We can get caught up in life and forget all the good that He does in our l...

God's Love for Us

Image
It's easy to get caught up in sin and in the flesh. It is no secret that the flesh is "pleasure seeking and pain avoiding." And because we don't face consequences right away, or in a way that doesn't blow up in our faces, it's nothing for us to keep doing wrong. But one thing that we take for granted is God's love for us. I was watching a sermon and it reminded me that we tend to forget to thank God for what we deem as "basic" things. When was the last time you thanked God you could breathe on your own? Walk? That you're in your right mind? When was the last time that you thanked God for sending His only begotten Son, who was beaten, lashed, and bloodied for our sins?  With this in mind, God grants us so many small mercies. And these small mercies allow us to be kept even in our own transgressions and sins. By God's grace, our life is not at its worse. By God's grace we have been kept. And by God's grace, He gives us the strengt...

Sermon I watched! 02/22/2025

Image
Hello and thank you to all the new people following me! I pray that you have had a blessed week, and that you will get from this sermon what pertains to you: https://youtu.be/GjitbP9q5M0?si=JHAcWjS08Rg-6GS7 Personally, this sermon reminded me to look for God. He is always there, always. In everything that I do, in my pain and in my good times. Sometimes we can lose sight of that as life goes on, but as the great woman of God, Sarah Jakes said in her sermon, referencing a scripture, she has not seen the righteous forsaken. Take a listen to this sermon and learn from it. And let it remind you that God has always been with you.

Consistency is Key

Image
As with any verse, there can be multiple interpretations depending on who is reading it, or who is speaking on it, but for me, it is a reminder to stay consistent. One of my struggles is being consistent and disciplined. Whether that be with studying, procrastinating, or working out. This way of being fell through as I came to college and had to live basically on my own. Now, I am doing a new thing, I have been keeping a schedule and a list so I can stay on task and complete what I need to do in a timely manner. There is another verse that states that if we are faithful in little things, we will be faithful in larger ones. I don't know about you, but I want more in life. Not only for myself, but so that I can be a blessing to others. So, as the scripture says, if we give every tiny thing we do to the Lord, even something as small as keeping a consistent schedule, it will not be in vain.
